BACKGROUND TO HYPERION MOTORSPORT
Founded in 1989, Hyperion Motorsport was created in response to the demand from first time racing drivers for an affordable route into Sports Car racing. The Caterham 7, with its competition heritage and its iconic status, was chosen as the perfect car for the job, forming the backbone of the team from the outset. In 1990, Hyperion was appointed the Official Motorsport Centre toCaterham and the two companies have worked closely together ever since. Over the years the team has won five National Championships, most notably finishing first and second in the 2000 Caterham Superlight Challenge winning no fewer than 13 of the 14 rounds.
